The Fair Pay Charter

Mission

IMG-20260130-WA0061 1.jpg

The Fair Pay Charter has a core mission to empower workers, reduce income inequality, and boost productivity by ensuring fair compensation and better working conditions.  It advocates for shifting corporate culture to ensure that wages allow workers to live with dignity, aiming for a more equitable distribution of wealth.

The Charter aims to improve the pay and living conditions of tea plantation workers globally and was launched in May 2024 as a joint effort between the United Nations Institute for Training and Research and the London Tea Exchange.  Sir Sheikh Aliur Rahman KCR KGOR OBE, Chief Executive of the London Tea Exchange is a towering figure in economic inclusion and global leadership. The Global Fair Pay Charter, was conceived by him and supported by EP, is designed to improve wages and living conditions for tea plantation workers worldwide.

On September 24, 2024. Sir Asif Nisar Bajwa KCR KCRC GCST was formally appointed Ambassador for the Global Fair Pay Charter (UNITAR) Portugal, marking a milestone of global significance.

As ambassador, he now leads efforts across Portugal to promote the Global Fair Pay Charter, partnering with governments, businesses, and civil society to close wage gaps and foster inclusive growth.
