Is R&B Music Dead? Absolutely Not—It’s Thriving!
"To the contrary, R&B music is on the rise! Without R&B, Soul, and Funk, there is no music!" – Jerry Bell
Good day to you all! I hope you are well and settling into 2025 with optimism and joy. Let’s continue to uplift each other, check in on one another, and most importantly, keep the love and essence of music flowing.
The Resurgence of R&B
For years, some have questioned the state of Rhythm & Blues, asking, “Is R&B music dead?” But the truth is quite the opposite—R&B is alive, evolving, and more influential than ever. From the heartfelt ballads of the past to today’s genre-blending innovations, R&B remains the foundation of modern music. Its soulful roots run deep, influencing Pop, Hip-Hop, Jazz, and even electronic music.
Artists like H.E.R., Lucky Daye, Coco Jones, SZA, Giveon, and Teddy Swims are proving that R&B is not only surviving but thriving, bringing fresh sounds while honoring the genre’s rich traditions. Legends such as Stevie Wonder, Chaka Khan, and Charlie Wilson continue to inspire new generations, ensuring the legacy of R&B remains strong.

What is National R&B Music Day?
National R&B Music Day is an officially recognized day dedicated to celebrating and preserving the impact of R&B and its artists. Established by Star Carrigan in November 2021, this annual observance takes place on the first Saturday of March. The inaugural celebration was held on March 5, 2022, and it has continued every year since.
This day serves as a reminder of R&B’s deep cultural significance, highlighting the artists who have shaped the industry and the sounds that continue to move us. It’s a time for reflection, appreciation, and, of course, great music!
