Afternoon Tea at The Victoria Tea Rooms - Eastbourne

As part of TurningPoint: Music and Lifestyle's exuberance to venture out on adventures throughout the UK, exploring the delights of Afternoon Tea, myself and Resident Contributor of the Fine Dining Section, Mr Tony Jazz, ended up in Eastbourne once again for a nostalgic traditional British Afternoon Tea. This time we had been invited to experience Afternoon Tea at The Victoria Tea Rooms, which was situated along the pier. After a short walk from our hotel, we found this quaint, nostalgic place. We were warmly welcomed by members of staff and ushered to our table that had already been pre-set for us.

The Victoria Tea Room is a big open space, quaint, warm, and homey. As you enter, 2 beautifully lit chandeliers greeted us. The room extended into an open-plan of tables, with guests indulging in Afternoon tea, comfortable amidst hearty conversation. We had tried to visit The Victoria Tea Rooms on several occasions before, but it was always at full occupancy, which meant it was a very popular place to dine, however, today was our lucky day. To the left-hand side, staff were washing dishes, then further along you had the counter, decked with afternoon tea delicacies, and if I remember correctly all cakes and scones were baked on the premises. This gave me the feeling of visiting family or that aunt who always baked great homemade yummies and who would sit and tell stories from the past over warmly braked bread or cake. The teaware and cutlery were simple and novel and very British.

This was a place filled with nostalgia. A place that was home away from home. Our Afternoon Tea adventure was made even more complete by the staff who served us, who were warm, and engaging, where interspersed between them serving other guests, we had pockets of great conversation that made the whole affair so welcoming and relaxing,

A huge thank you again to the staff. The Victoria Tea Room is one of those places you must visit.

A big thank you goes out to Zoey Taylor from The Victoria Tea Room for setting this up for us. Eastbourne, Eastbourne Pier Grand Parade, Eastbourne BN21 3EL ·
