"The first major stage adaptation of Noel Streatfeild’s best-selling book Ballet Shoes by Kendall Feaver (The Almighty Sometimes), in the Olivier theatre from 23 November 2024. This festive family show will be directed by Katy Rudd. In a crumbling house full of dinosaur bones and fossils, three adopted sisters – Pauline, Petrova and Posy – are learning who they are and what they want to be. Under the watchful eyes and guidance of their guardian Sylvia, Nana, and some unlikely lodgers, they fight to pursue their individual passions. But in a world that wasn’t built for women with big ambitions, can they forge a future, keep their family together, and even learn a dance or two along the way?"
Saturday, January 25th, was a day dedicated to Grandma and Granddaughter. It was a special outing just for Mia and myself, and we were both thrilled. I admit, I'm forever a child at heart. I love experiencing a variety of life's adventures, which makes life more exciting and what better way to have those experiences than with a beautiful young lady by my side.
We attended the National Theatre at The Southbank in London. My granddaughter is a wonderful person, brimming with creativity and innovation. She loves all things girly (which is different from me) and has been lucky to enjoy a wide range of life's fascinating and diverse experiences. This is due to her supportive and distinctive family network, which enhances her life in numerous ways.
Today was her special day. Equipped with her favorite chocolate and warmly dressed, we were prepared. As we took our seats in the Olivier Theatre, we waited with pending excitement and anticipation. Ballerinas from the show mingled with the audience, interacting, engaging, and encouraging the audience to participate in fun activities.
Then the show began. Mia was captivated. Although a bit restless, she was completely absorbed as she snacked on her favorite chocolate, occasionally asking questions. It was delightful to watch her laugh at humorous moments and reflect in her own child-like way, on the more thoughtfully inspiring parts of the show.
After the show concluded, I considered it would be pleasant for Mia to meet some of the cast members, if feasible. Upon inquiring with one of the Ushers about this, they recommended we proceed to the BackStage entrance. So, we hurried down the stairs, exited the theatre, did a fun run around the corner and waited, occasionally impatiently, to see who would come out and whom we could approach.

20 minutes later Mia's absolute favourite actress and ballerina from Ballet Shoes came out. Mia was already bouncing around in glee and she managed to grab a few minutes with Daisy Sequerra, who played Posy Fossil in Ballet Shoes.
Mia interviews Daisy Sequerra who plays the character Posy Fossil in Ballet shoes:
Interview with Mia below on her overall thoughts of Ballet Shoes: What did you think of ballet shoes? What was your best part?
The Alice in Wonderland part.
Who was your best character in Ballet Shoes?
Posy Fossil played by Daisy Sequerra
What was it about Posy that you liked? She was a Ballerina and she had pretty orange hair.
Were you inspired by ballet shoes?
I liked it. I loved it. I liked the way they danced, but I’m more into gymnastics.
Did you like the costumes or the set?
I liked how when the man (Great Uncle Matthew played by Justin Salinger) kept on going on his adventures, and the background would change quickly and how everyone (the cast) moved the background (the set) around so quickly.
