In this picture I share the space with two special women. Janelle Raeburn, one of the award winners (at the back) and at the front Carole McWhinnie otherwise known as Caz.
I was honored to have been one of the 22 nominees of this award. It was a wonderful surprise when I received notification that I'd been nominated. I felt blessed to be amidst such incredible women of power, who have been through the struggle, who have persevered, whose tenacity has created platforms, visibility and businesses.
Women who have had to go that extra mile, to push through glass ceilings, to pave the way like Brenda Emmanus, who hosted the event, who was awarded an OBE for services to Broadcasting and Diversity in 2019, and an Honorary Doctorate from the University of the Arts in 2020.
I was escorted to the event by my good friend Tony Jazz and what a night it was.
Not only as women and black women but being in male dominated environments, in industries where women are the minority, many of these women have held their own. However, 2023 is a year of break through and with this Award, I believe it will create inspiring pathways, collaborations and partnerships to open up the doors for us all. So thank you Fredi for being the visionary that you are.

"Women of colour still face significant barriers to advancement in all areas pertinent to the creation of building and sustaining wealth, business, well being and access to career opportunities. An incredible night of honouring women. Voting took place on the POAW website and votes were decided by a 50% public vote and a 50% judges panel."
"The Power Of A Woman Awards is a space where women of colour could celebrate themselves and each other; network, raise their career profiles, share knowledge and information, access resources, and build new profitable and supportive connections. At the Power Of A Woman Awards, we intend to contribute to worldwide efforts to recognise and empower women of colour everywhere."

There was Church in the house on the night. These powerful women of faith bought church into the venue rocking the room, with their passion for Christ, but also in celebration of the evening and what it stood for. In celebration of the freedom of success. In celebration of the freedom to simply celebrate..
Poetess (Name to be Inserted) - a POWA..FULL Wordsmith of Insight, Wisdom and Influence. If this lady didn't move you, I don't know what will.
The event was held in central London at Proud City, a night of awards, live music, spoken word, comedy, female empowerment and so much more. And afterwards there was a swanky after-party, with dancing to some of London's premiere DJs.
Award Winner - Vanessa Feltz Gave a warm heart-felt speech and had us all in stitiches with her natural, down to earth banter and humour.
